How to be more sustainable when it comes to fashion

Its definitely a hard pill to swallow when you realize that your beloved clothes are one of the major causes of the second most environmentally polluting industry behind oil, in the UK alone 350.000 tonnes of clothing went to land fills and honestly shook me to the core and made me realize that I needed to make some changes to how I shop for my wallets sake and the planet's.

Here is what I have been doing and here is how you can help too

Buy second hand from online store such as Depop, Ebay or Asos Market place

This stops the item from ending up in a landfill which can be very damaging as as the majority of garments are made from oil-based materials like polyester and oil does not decompose, and if we burned the material to nothing it will release harmful chemicals into the atmosphere.

Invest in better quality "basics"

By spending a little extra on the core foundation pieces of your wardrobe whether its a really well made faux leather jacket or white shirt which will hopefully last you years instead of months, by doing this it will more cost effective because you wont feel the need to constantly re-buy the same white shirt over and over again.

Buy locally

Therefore reducing your carbon foot print.
