How to make your polished nails last longer

There is just something so soothing about painting your nails whether its a horrible week at work and you need to pamper yourself or you have plans that involve getting dolled up for like cocktails with the girls.

I love having my nails done but sometimes you have to do it your self but one wrong stroke or rushing can lead to disastrous results so here are a few tips I've picked up, along with a couple of my fave nail art pics.

Do not wash your hands before applying the polish as the natural oils from your skin stops the polish from adhering to your nails.

This goes hand in hand (get it) with my first point apply nail polish remover to you nails before you paint them.

Give you nails time to dry between each coat I know that this is a given but I can not stress it enough.

Apply the polish with thin coats this allows the nail to hold onto the product better.

Roll the bottle in the palm of your hand and do not shake it as it will create air bubbles that can transfer onto your nails and you'll end up with a monstrous manicure an nobody wants that.

Aimee Song (song of style) X Revolve

I have been following Aimee for around sixth months as she came up as one of my suggested videos on YouTube, If I remember correctly the first video I watched was 8 ways to wear a slip dress from her style by numbers series, as you know I am currently infatuated with anything that has the slip in it, just ask my Topshop order history.

On the 30th of April Aimee announced via Instagram that she was launching her own fashion line Song of Style and on the 13th of May her first collection released and I cant get over it I am constantly picking up my jaw off the floor because its too damn gorgeous here are some of my favorite pieces from the collection.

The Elsa midi dress

If only I lived in America where it would be sunny 85% of the time as I would be wearing this to every picnic, BBQ and 4th of July party EVER because it is such a classic piece with an a slight modern twist as the color is taupe rather than a traditional red , I would pair it with a cropped light wash denim jacket.

The Isla Midi Dress

I absolutely adore this tobacco color and the horn buttons which gives this dress a more vintage feel, this would look incredible paired with white cat eye sunglasses ,a pair of white heels or mules and some chunky statement gold earrings.

The Ada top & skirt

This is the outfit you wear when your on date number 3 so that he knows date number 4 is inevitable and that he needs to wife you up because you look like a candyfloss dream.

M.A.C X AALIYAH HAUGHTON

If you haven't read my previous blog post about this collection let me give you a quick rundown in August 2017 MAC announced its upcoming collaboration with Aaliyah Haughton's family specifically her brother Rashad Haughton to honour the late singer.

Now if you don't know who Aaliyah is then you need to stop reading this post immediately and watch Queen of the damned or listen to More than a woman and then come back and read this post.

For a lot of us hardcore Aaliyah fans, this collection has been a long time coming 3 years to be exact it took a petition and over 26,000 signatures to make this collection a reality.

Every item in this collection was based on the makeup products Aaliyah had is her personal makeup bag.

Now into the review firstly the shade names are so fitting to what Aaliyah was and I felt that they were a true representation of what our baby girl embodied with names such as Brooklyn Born
 & Street Thing.

Secondly, you can create soo many of her iconic looks from her music videos using the collection (well duh! Beth)

We Need A Resolution

Try Again

Rock The Boat

Lastly, I Felt the that 98% of the collection was inclusive as the bonzer was a bit too light for some deeper skin tones and that if she were alive today she would definitely have created a similar collection.

What a way to honour and remember our baby girl.

Splurge or Save

I spotted this showstopping number on Asos a couple of months back mainly because my most used search term on their website is 'velvet dress', I'm not entirely sure why I love velvet so much maybe its the way it feels or how it clings to my body in the right places or that when it gets cold waiting for a taxi I don't freeze quite as fast when I'm on a night out with the girls.

There is no doubt this dress is gorgeous and if I had that kind of disposable income to purchase said dress I would definitely hand over the £175 its costs but sadly at this current moment, I do not.

Bec And Bridge Pink Velvet Midi Dress

I refused to quit because I adored THAT dress so I scoured the internet and managed to find this beauty on NastyGal and £145 pounds cheaper to be exact as well as meeting all the criteria that made the Bec & Bridge dress perfect, rose-toned velvet, deep V neckline and a tie at the waist.

well done to me for not sending my bank card into shock or plaguing my mind with thoughts of buyers remorse.

30 Beauty Questions Tag

1. Do you remember your first makeup item?
My mom used to buy me Avon compact foundations that did not match my skin tone in the slightest (cringe), but if we're talking the first makeup item that I ever bought then it would have to be the lasting finish matte lipstick by Kate Moss in the shade 107 which in recent years has become a cult favorite in the beauty community.

2. Describe your perfect mascara. Have you found one that fits your specifications?
I have the shortest lashes known to man so anything that will lengthen them is what I typically lean towards when choosing a mascara, Benefit's roller lash is by far the best mascara I have tried it gives me volume and length but still gives me a natural look.

3. What kind of coverage do you prefer for your foundation?
If its a night out then full coverage all the way but if I'm only going the supermarket I'd rather just go without if I'm being totally honest.

Charlotte Tilbury.

I am quite the savvy saver and I do believe the phrase 'go big or go home' comes to mind whenever I go on a beauty spree.

Yes, when I can remember to bring my boots reward card out with me and of course beauty sales are always a bonus, who doesn't like saving money?
